Altair Adds Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis Capabilities to Software Offering
The addition of FluiDyna to the Altair Partner Alliance expands Altair's CFD offering to Lattice Boltzmann and particle-based analysis
TROY, Mich., Sept. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Altair today announced that FluiDyna has joined the Altair Partner Alliance (APA), adding nanoFluidX and ultraFluidX to its software portfolio. Both software bring unique capabilities to HyperWorks customers. nanoFluidX is based on a particle-based method for fluid flow simulation, and ultraFluidX applies the Lattice Boltzmann Method to study external aerodynamics. Both technologies utilize graphics processing unit (GPU) technology for fast, large-scale computation.
"FluiDyna is delighted to be joining the Altair family," said Dr. Thomas Indinger, Founder & CEO at FluiDyna. "The capabilities of nanoFluidX and ultraFluidX complement HyperWorks by adding alternative fluid flow modeling techniques. Together, we will be able to bring our mutual customers a more complete CFD solution."
ultraFluidX is specifically suited to predict aerodynamic properties for vehicles of all types as well as to analyze building and environmental aerodynamics with unbeatable speed. The software is based on the Lattice Boltzmann Method and especially designed to leverage GPU technology, providing users with supreme performance and dramatically reducing the model preparation time for large, complex models. The integrated volume meshing and fast overnight transient analyses deliver short turnaround times, resulting in completely new possibilities for simulation-driven optimization and significant cost savings.
nanoFluidX is a Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH)-based fluid dynamics simulation tool which predicts flow in complex geometries exposed to complex motion. nanoFluidX is well suited to predict general free-surface and/ or multiphase flows, such as macroscopic oil flow in powertrain assemblies and fluid sloshing in tanks, while analyzing forces and torques on individual components. The meshless approach of nanoFluidX and utilization of GPU-based technology empowers high-performance simulations of real geometries.
"FluiDyna's CFD software tools are a great addition to the Altair offering," said Dr. Uwe Schramm, Chief Technical Officer for Solvers, at Altair. "We have already begun integrating them with HyperWorks to bring more complete and valuable solutions to our customers."
To learn more about the FluiDyna software, register for the introductory webinars: ultraFluidX will be Oct. 8, 2015 at 9 a.m. EDT and 1 p.m. EDT and nanoFluidX will take place Oct. 13, 2015 at 9 a.m. EDT and 1 p.m. EDT.
About the Altair Partner Alliance
Altair's HyperWorks platform applies a revolutionary subscription-based licensing model in which customers use floating licenses to access a broad suite of Altair-developed, as well as third-party, software applications on demand. The Altair Partner Alliance effectively extends the HyperWorks Platform from more than 20 internally developed solutions to upwards of 60 applications with the addition of new partner applications. Customers can invoke these third-party applications at no incremental cost using their existing HyperWorks licenses. Customers benefit from unmatched flexibility and access, resulting in maximum software utilization, productivity and ROI.
