Altair Acquires WinProp and AWE Communications GmbH

TROY, Mich., April 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Altair has acquired AWE Communications GmbH (AWE) based in Gärtringen, Germany. AWE was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from the University of Stuttgart and the main focus has been the development of the WinProp Software Suite for wave propagation and radio network planning.

"The software has been developed over almost 20 years with a strict focus on propagation modeling and radio network planning. Being a key partner with several privately and publicly funded projects has allowed us to develop several modules and interfaces for a broad range of propagation, communication and EMC applications. Altair will offer us an experienced sales and support network and the synergy and tighter integration between the WinProp and FEKO development teams is an added benefit," said Angelika Wölfle, previous CEO and owner of AWE.

Highly accurate and very fast empirical and deterministic propagation models are available for a wide range of scenarios including, rural and residential, urban and suburban, indoor and campus, tunnel and underground, vehicular and time-variant, GEO and LEO Satellites.
