ALPFA Honors Outstanding KPMG Professionals With Prestigious Awards For Promoting Diversity And Inclusion
NEW YORK, Oct. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ALPFA, the largest Latino association in the U.S., awarded two KPMG professionals with prestigious awards for their commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion. KPMG's Louis Miramontes, an Audit partner, and Suzette Longfellow, a senior manager in Audit, received the ALPFA Lifetime Achievement and ALPFA Executive of the Year Awards, respectively.
Each year, ALPFA bestows both awards on outstanding professionals who have contributed significantly to their companies and communities, while furthering the purposes of ALPFA and advancing ALPFA causes – diversity and inclusion.
"We live in a time of great change when we are all challenged to think and act innovatively," said Charles Garcia, ALPFA CEO. "At the Gala Awards, a remarkable community of ALPFA supporters comes together to recognize leaders who have done incredible work to promote diversity and inclusion. Our distinguished honorees represent the best examples of a network working to empower Latino men and women in every sector of the American economy."
"KPMG is honored to work with an organization like ALPFA and the awards that Lou and Suzette received reflect not only their deep commitment to ALPFA and its mission, but also to greater diversity and inclusion across the board," said Kathy Hopinkah Hannan, National Managing Partner for Diversity and Corporate Responsibility at KPMG.
KPMG also sponsored a Case Study Competition at ALPFA's annual convention in Orlando, which brought together accounting students from over 24 schools to solve complex accounting cases. The competition teamed students with KPMG professionals. KPMG advisors provided teams with their knowledge, experience, and time to assist the students as they developed potential solutions for their cases. Participating students from the ALPFA Baruch student chapter at Baruch College won the 2014 competition.
