California Leader Elected to Five-Year Term on Teamsters General Executive Board
WASHINGTON, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- California Teamster leader Rome A. Aloise joined Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa, General Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall and the newly elected International Vice Presidents and Trustees as they were sworn in today to a five-year term on the union's General Executive Board.

The Hoffa-Hall slate won the 2011 IBT International Officer Election by a wide margin in November. The election results were certified on Jan. 6. Hoffa took office in March 1999 and won re-election in 2001 and 2006. Under his stewardship, the Teamsters Union has regained its place as the strongest labor union in North America.

Aloise was sworn in as At-Large International Vice President. He had previously served as a Western Region International Vice President since 2009, and has been an elected Teamsters official for 37 years. Aloise is also the Secretary-Treasurer of Local 853 in San Leandro, Calif. and President of the Teamsters Joint Council 7 Executive Board. As Director of the Food Processing Division and the Dairy Conference, Aloise is responsible the stewardship of more than 35,000 dairy workers and 60,000 food processing members across the country.
