Ally Financial to Match 10% of Donations to Feeding America® through June 30
#TenPercentMore campaign encourages social media participation to help fight childhood food insecurity in the summer months
DETROIT, June 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ally Financial Inc. today announced a community support initiative called "#TenPercentMore." For the rest of June, Ally will match 10 percent of donations made to Feeding America®, as well as donate $10 for every Twitter or Facebook engagement related to the program.
The initiative coincides with the start of summer, a time when many children face food insecurity while schools are closed and school lunch programs are unavailable. Feeding America is the nation's largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a nationwide network of food banks.
"Giving back and making a difference in our communities is core to our culture at Ally, and supporting vital organizations, like the Feeding America network, is a key area of focus," said Gina Proia, Ally's head of communications, citizenship and culture. "The summer can be a fun and exciting time for many kids, but when school is out, more than 18 million children will lose access to free or reduced-price meals. This is the time to help kids and their families who struggle with hunger."
"The Feeding America network serves 46 million people in America, including twelve million children," said Nancy Curby, vice president of corporate partnerships at Feeding America. "We are thankful to Ally and its #TenPercentMore initiative for supporting children and families who struggle with hunger during the critical summer months."
In addition to matching 10 percent of donations made to Feeding America through June 30, Ally will donate $10 for every tweet or retweet from @Ally, @AllyAuto or @AllyBank using the hashtag #TenPercentMore and for every tracked share of the #TenPercentMore post from the Ally Auto or Ally Bank Facebook pages during the same period. Donations can be made by visiting http://www.feedingamerica.org/ways-to-give/.
10% More
The #TenPercentMore campaign also aligns with a unique feature of the newly launched Ally CashBack Credit Card, which provides cardholders with an additional 10% bonus if cash back rewards are redeemed into an eligible Ally Bank account.
"We want to emphasize that 10 percent more can make a big impact – from a community perspective and a personal savings perspective," said Diane Morais, chief executive officer and president of the Ally Bank subsidiary. "We are pleased to be able to support such an important cause, demonstrating that sometimes just doing a little more can make all the difference."
