Allwinner Aims to Shake up the Connected Tablet Ecosystem with Cost Competitive 4G LTE Designs and Targeted Partner Strategy
ZHUHAI, China, June 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Allwinner announced plans to introduce three new connected tablet designs based on Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processors geared to help key partners target new growth opportunities in the tablet ecosystem. Allwinner will introduce this new generation of reference designs based on three new processors, the Snapdragon 425, 430 and 435, products of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. This project will kick-off at MWC Shanghai 2016.
These new connected tablet designs are optimized to deliver the key benefits of Snapdragon processors like high performance, 4G LTE CAT 6/7 Carrier Aggregation connectivity leadership and support for FHD Display resolution along with advanced user experiences and features and long battery life. Together, this helps deliver a variety of new affordable tablet designs for global distribution that offers consumers greater value without compromising on performance or quality.
The long-term goal of this new design focus and close collaboration is to raise the bar in the tablet ecosystem and stimulate new growth by lowering product cost, reducing barriers to entry for OEMs and distributors, and improving device quality and user experiences. Allwinner's quality-tested reference designs and choice of Snapdragon processors provides manufacturers with the needed assurance that new devices based on these reference designs will be highly competitive while achieving new levels of quality and performance, bringing new vitality to the China tablet manufacturing ecosystem.
Prior to these new reference designs, Allwinner Technology had already developed a first round of designs and software SDK based on Snapdragon 210, 212 and 410 processors. Products by Chinese OEMs and ODMs like Cube and Emdoor are the result of that successful first round of designs. These products will be on display at MWC Shanghai.
By providing manufacturers with these comprehensive reference designs, Allwinner is reducing the total resources and time required for customer projects. These savings can be significant when seen in practical applications. One device, a connected tablet program, aimed at the Chinese educational segment and based on the Snapdragon 410 processor was initiated in April of this year, and released in June this year, a turnaround of less than two months.
The end result of this collaboration between Allwinner and Qualcomm Technologies is a high quality, affordable device with global LTE coverage, 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity and Wi-Fi display, built using a Snapdragon processor - the mobile brand that consumers trust for high quality and performance.
