Allura Donates Fiber Cement Siding, Trim and Soffit for Service Disabled Veteran's New Home
DENVER, N.C., May 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- While daily shipments of fiber cement products by Allura can be found making their way to home sites across the country, one particular delivery just might stand out above them all.
One of the nation's leading companies in fiber cement home building products, Allura has donated a supply of its all-weather fiber cement siding, trim and soffit to a North Carolina home where service connected disabled veteran Robert James, Jr. will reside with his family after serving his country since the age of 17.
After graduating high school, Robbie enlisted in the United States Marines through the delayed entry program. Just four days after graduating high school, he entered the Active Duty Marine Corps and later spent most of his Marine career in Okinawa, Japan. Robbie left active duty in 2000 to pursue a civilian career as an EMT. However he missed military life and enlisted in the North Carolina Army National Guard in 2001. After the events of September 11, Robbie went to Iraq where he served as a Specialist in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Although he made it home alive, he has suffered along the way. Today, Robbie deals with hearing loss, problems with large crowds and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The new home in Denver, North Carolina, about 25 miles north of Charlotte, is a collaborative effort by Hearts & Hammers, Charlotte Bridge Homes, The Patriot Military Family Foundation and Purple Heart Homes, part of the 555 Charity, an initiative to build five new homes for service connected disabled veterans in the town of about 13,000.
This marks the second 555 Charity home for which Allura has donated its fiber cement building products.
"Our veterans need a home to call their own," says Tony Ellis, vice president of sales and marketing for Allura. "We take pride in every one of builder partner installations, but this one certainly has special meaning."
With 75 years of experience, Allura's natural-looking, weather-resistant fiber cement products include the industry's only fiber cement decking product. Specially formulated to withstand any type of climate, fiber cement products by Allura with their realistic wood grain won't crack, warp or splinter and effectively resist fire, water and fungus.
