Allstate Recognized by CIO as a CIO 100 Award Winner
NORTHBROOK, Ill., June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Allstate has been named a 2016 CIO 100 Award winner by IDG's CIO. The 29th annual awards program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
Allstate's 2016 CIO 100 Award is due to the company's successful development and launch of Good Hands RescueSM in July 2015. This service is aimed at disrupting the conventional market for roadside assistance, which typically involves paying a monthly or annual fee whether a customer uses the service or not. Instead, Good Hands Rescue is a pay-per-use, on-demand service created for both Allstate customers and the public. Via a mobile application and/or website, drivers can digitally request roadside assistance, such as towing, a tire change or lock-out assistance, and track the arrival of the service provider.
"Good Hands Rescue launched Allstate into a new consumer business and aligns with our strategy to combine strong customer relationships, a robust service provider network and advanced, digitally-enabled capabilities," said Suren Gupta, executive vice president of Allstate Technology and Strategic Ventures. "The CIO 100 Award also recognizes our team's outstanding capabilities. From a development and delivery perspective, Good Hands Rescue moved from a simple concept on paper to a full multi-service offering via a responsive mobile web application in just 12 months."
Recipients of this year's CIO 100 Award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of external judges (many of them former CIOs) reviewed the applications in depth, looking for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' evaluations and selected the final 100.
