Allstate Appointing 120 Agencies in Texas This Year
Recruiters Focusing on Vetpreneurs; Professionals Looking to be Their Own Boss
IRVING, Texas, Feb. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Allstate Insurance Company is ramping up recruiting in Texas with plans to appoint more than 120 new agency owners this year, creating an estimated 360 new jobs across the state. Allstate recruiters are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic and management skills, including veterans, or vetpreneurs.
"Many veterans are looking for solid opportunities to become their own boss when they leave the military," said Lisa Banks, Allstate's Texas Strategic Deployment Leader. "They have gained exceptional leadership, decision-making and communication skills through their experience in the service, which are all important qualities in becoming a successful small business owner."
In addition to vetpreneurs, Allstate is looking for mid-level, mid career candidates that are sales-driven, customer-service oriented professionals.
"While our goal is to appoint at least 120 new Allstate agents in Texas this year, we're not stopping at that number," Banks said. "Allstate wants to continue growing with Texas and we are aggressively targeting qualified professionals. If they don't have an insurance background, we'll provide them with comprehensive education and the resources to help them get off to a solid start."
These new agency owners will also hire licensed sales professionals to help them open and run their small businesses, which could generate 250-plus additional jobs in communities across Texas.
Growth in Texas
Allstate's Texas recruiting goals for 2013 are segmented by area across the state:

105 Total: 35 Exclusive Agents who may hire up to 70 Licensed Sales Staff |
Houston/Valley |
96 Total 32 Exclusive Agents who may hire up to 64 Licensed Sales Staff |
Central Texas (San Antonio-Austin) |
60 Total: 20 Exclusive Agents who may hire up to 40 Licensed Sales Staff |

Allstate agency owner candidates need a minimum of $50,000 of liquid capital to invest in their agency. This money does not go to Allstate; it is to help ensure the agency can successfully fund the day to day costs associated with opening and running a small business.
"Allstate is unique in that agents own the economic interest in the business that they write and can sell their economic interest,*" Banks said. "No other branded insurer has this type of ownership option."
