HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- AllSportsMarket (ASM), The World's First (and only) Sports Stock Market, brand ambassadors Zack Ward, Bernie Nicholls and Clipper Darrell say let's "Make Sports Great Again!" in Hollywood this Summer. ASM will be hosting the fourth event in just over a year at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood on Saturday July 1, 2017 from 6pm to 10pm.
The Future of Sports & Money
Some say the illegal sports betting market can be as big as half a trillion dollars a year, a number that is hard to ignore. On the heels of the controversies and legal challenges that have hit the daily fantasy sports industry, a form of sports gambling, the American Gaming Association has taken the lead on a major campaign to legalize sports betting. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is a proponent, though the other major leagues either are on the fence or outright oppose it.
The typical pro-gambling argument consists of two elements:
- It is already happening; and
- America is missing out economically.
The problem, in the eyes of gambling supporters is legality. As a result, they are focusing on changing the federal law through legislature or the judiciary.
Gambling supporters have misidentified the problem, and therefore the solution. Legalization cannot be the solution, because illegality is not the problem. The real problem is the lack of responsible innovation at the intersection of sports and money. America does not even want to gamble in sports, it just wants to speculate/invest in sports.
Former Los Angeles King and ASM brand ambassador for more than a decade, Bernie Nicholls says, "I know the pain of gambling and the damage it can cause. DraftKings, FanDuel, daily fantasy gambling, regular sports gambling, gambling period… it is all the same. It is a net loser for everyone except the owners of the casinos, sportsbooks, daily fantasy sites, etc. They never count the social destruction in their numbers. If they did, it would be clear that gambling is NOT the answer."
Veteran Hollywood actor and sponsor of the Sports Integrity Protection Amendment (SIPA) in California says, "Gambling is a scam. It always has been. It plays to impatience and greed and offers an impossibility in this world… something for nothing. It is small thinking. Trump says that it is time for 'big thinking'. Well, gambling is NOT 'big thinking'. Investing is. Let's stop betting and start investing in sports." Fox News covered SIPA in April 2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uzyPomUBNw.
"There is no way I would suggest teaching kids how to bet on sports. Investing in sports? Now, that is a different matter. Over the coming months, we will be building out the tools to bring financial education to the schools using sports and we will be starting right here in one of the areas that need it the most, the disadvantaged schools in and around Los Angeles. When we get this blueprint perfected here, we can replicate this all over the nation and the world," says #1 Super Fan and ASM ambassador, Clipper Darrell.
Co-founder and C.E.O. Chris Rabalais concludes, "America is clearly at a turning point and the 2016 election proved that. President Trump talks a big game about opportunities but I have yet to see any ideas that come even close to big enough to fix the economic mess. So far, it looks like most attention is in the rear-view mirror. This will take a massive paradigm shift and not just patches around the edges. Properly executed, creating an entirely new set of regulated assets around sports WILL fix the problem… not MIGHT… WILL fix the problem and we can prove it."
