AlloSource Recognized Nationally For Wellness Initiatives
The company's unique services to improve employee health and reduce costs of healthcare set it apart from other employers
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AlloSource (www.allosource.org), one of the nation's largest non-profit providers of skin, bone and soft tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures, and the world's largest processor of cellular bone allografts, was awarded 61st place in the 2014 Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America competition, judged by Healthiest Employers.
Five thousand companies across the nation applied for the award, which recognizes companies of all sizes and industries for a commitment to wellness and developing sustainable health initiatives. The competition rewards employers that demonstrate a strategic vision for their company's role in the overall healthcare environment. In order to participate in the competition, applicants had to be named a "Healthy Employer" or "Healthiest Employer" in their state. The Denver Business Journal named AlloSource Denver's Healthiest Employer for medium-sized companies in July 2013.
"Employee health and wellness is crucial to our mission at AlloSource," said Thomas Cycyota, AlloSource President and CEO. "We are honored to receive national recognition for our wellness initiatives and we look forward to finding new and innovative ways to continue to provide our employees with valuable health resources."
In 2013, AlloSource launched a new onsite health clinic, a rarity for a company of its size, for employees and their dependents. The clinic, operated by CareHere, is part of the company's medical plan and wellness program. The AlloCares™ Health Clinic provides access to a broad scope of services, including physical exams, disease management, repetitive motion therapy and personalized health coaching to employees and their families.
The AlloSource Healthy Possibilities Wellness Program uses a point system allowing employees and their dependents to receive money for their Health Savings Account, insurance premium discounts and prizes. Other wellness initiatives include a community garden, annual biometric screening, free employee flu shots, a monthly wellness newsletter, subsidized health club memberships, a smoking cessation program, participation in events such as Bike to Work Day, Donor Dash, Race for the Cure and more.
