AlloSource® Named One of Denver's Healthiest Employers for the Third Year in a Row
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Feb. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AlloSource, one of the nation's largest providers of cartilage, bone, skin, soft-tissue and cellular allografts for use in surgical procedures and wound care to advance patient healing, was named one of Denver's Healthiest Employers in the large company category by the Denver Business Journal.
The Denver Business Journal competition recognizes companies of all sizes and industries that commit to making wellness a reality for their employees by creating and implementing wellness programs, as well as educating and promoting wellness in the workplace.
The AlloSource Healthy Possibilities Wellness Program is part of the business strategy for the organization, as it drives employee engagement, which in turn leads to better business outcomes. The program is designed and managed by employees and encourages each associate to become an active partner in managing their own health. For the first time this year, the program focused on fostering wellness at work and at home by allowing children and spouses to participate. AlloSource invited spouses to attend open enrollment meetings and awarded children with age-appropriate fitness trackers after they completed a workbook provided by Cigna.
AlloSource exceeded its wellness program participation goal, with 88 percent of employees taking part in the program in 2014. The organization will offer a convenient option for employees looking to exercise through the construction of an onsite fitness area, which will be completed in 2015.
"We know wellness stretches beyond the workplace, so we provide resources for employees and their families to use at home," said Thomas Cycyota, AlloSource president and CEO. "We are honored to be recognized for our programs and will continue to enhance our offerings each year."
AlloSource employees and their dependents also have access to the onsite AlloCaresTM Health Clinic. The clinic, operated by CareHere, is part of the company's medical plan and wellness program. The clinic provides access to a broad scope of services, including physical exams, disease management, repetitive motion therapy and personalized health coaching to employees and their families.
Since opening the AlloCares Health Clinic in 2013, both the company and employees have seen reduced medical insurance costs. AlloSource's medical budget is down five percent in 2015 and the company recorded savings of 45 percent in medical costs for each primary care visit to the clinic. Through the wellness plan and access to the clinic, AlloSource employees saw an 11 percent reduction in prescription costs and many employees received preventative care for chronic conditions, resulting in large savings for employees and the company.
The Denver Business Journal and presenting sponsors Cigna, Humana and United Healthcare awarded the top five healthiest companies in four size categories during a luncheon on February 18.
