AlloSource Named One Of Colorado's Top Bioscience Companies Of The Year
Following a year of tremendous innovation and growth, AlloSource is recognized by the Colorado BioScience Association
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Nov. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AlloSource (allosource.org), one of the nation's largest non-profit providers of skin, bone and soft tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures and the world's largest processor of cellular bone allografts, today announced that is has been named one of the top Colorado bioscience companies of the year, as judged by the Colorado BioScience Association's annual awards program. AlloSource is a repeat winner, having been named the bioscience company of the year in 2007 as well.
Now in its tenth year, the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) Awards honor companies that have made successful achievements over the past year, showing the promise and breadth of the bioscience industry in the state.
"Amidst a new, state-of-the-art campus, product innovations, strategic partnerships and internal process improvement initiatives, 2012 and 2013 have been landmark years for AlloSource," said Thomas Cycyota, AlloSource president and CEO. "We are incredibly proud to be a key business in the dynamic Colorado bioscience community, and look forward to continuing the development of innovative life-saving and life-enhancing allograft tissues."
The past year and a half have been particularly noteworthy for AlloSource and its continuing contributions to the bioscience community in Colorado:
- New headquarters: In September of last year, AlloSource celebrated the opening of its new headquarter campus in Centennial, Colorado. To best accommodate its growing workforce, AlloSource constructed a 70,000 square-foot building addition, nearly doubling the size of its headquarter campus and allowing for remote Denver-based offices to be consolidated under one roof. The construction of the new headquarters employed more than 500 local skilled workers, and injected roughly $20 million into the local economy.
- AlloMend ADM launch: In August, AlloSource introduced a new allograft, AlloMend Acellular Dermal Matrix (ADM), which can be used in a broad range of soft tissue surgical procedures such as hernia repair and post-mastectomy reconstruction. AlloMend ADM is created by removing viable cellular elements from donated human skin, leaving a collagen elastin matrix behind. Upon transplantation, the recipient's own cells infiltrate and repopulate this scaffold to begin the revascularization process. AlloMend ADM is a new way to maximize the gift of life from tissue donors, and should bring the benefits of regenerative medicine to more patients in need.
- Partnership to create bioengineered blood vessels: In October, AlloSource partnered with Humacyte, a regenerative medicine business from North Carolina, to create bioengineered blood vessels. The blood vessels are being developed to provide vascular access for dialysis in End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients. This exciting technology could have the potential to help reduce or avoid surgical interventions and hospitalizations for patients with the disease.
- Onsite health and wellness clinic: Amidst a nationwide discussion about how companies and individuals can access affordable healthcare, in the last month AlloSource took the bold step of opening an onsite clinic to offer more efficient, affordable and quality healthcare for its employees and their families. Now AlloSource employees, and their dependents, have access to the clinic as part of the company's medical plan and wellness program.
The winners of the Annual CBSA Awards were announced at a dinner held on November 7, at the Marriott City Center in Denver.
