AlloSource Granted Sixth Patent For AlloTrue™, A Proprietary Tissue Cleaning and Disinfecting Process
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --AlloSource (allosource.org), one of the nation's largest non-profit providers of skin, bone and soft tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures, and the world's largest processor of cellular bone allografts, has been awarded a patent for its propriety tissue cleaning and disinfecting system called AlloTrue. The patent title is Apparatus and methods for treating allograft products. This is the sixth patent in a family of patents protecting AlloSource's AlloTrue process and method.
AlloTrue is an innovative tissue cleaning and disinfecting system that uses rotation, coupled with sonication to effectively reduce bacteria. The technology works by exposing allografts to a variety of cleaning solutions inside a fully automated, closed, rotating canister. In addition to bacteria, AlloTrue removes the marrow and lipids that can be responsible for allograft discoloration.
"Garnering not one but an entire group of patents surrounding the AlloTrue system has been a lengthy process but an important and highly valuable one, due to the unique and pioneering nature of AlloTrue," said Thomas Cycyota, AlloSource President and CEO. "This exclusive method of cleaning transplantable tissues allows us to maximize each gift of life donated by generous tissue donors and their families. AlloTrue is also a testament to AlloSource's commitment to quality and improvement."
The first AlloTrue patent was issued February 9, 2010 and AlloSource has steadily devoted engineering talent to the technology's implementation and improvement since that time.
By focusing on quality, safety, service and a commitment to its mission, AlloSource has grown into one of the nations' largest non-profit bone, soft tissue and allograft skin networks in the country. The Company's safety and tissue processing standards meet and exceed guidelines set forth by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
