Allied World U.S. Announces Marjorie Thompson to Speak at the Practicing Law Institute
PEMBROKE, Bermuda, July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd (NYSE: AWH) announced today that Marjorie Thompson, Vice President for Professional Lines Claims in the U.S. is speaking at the Practicing Law Institute's seminar, "Class Action Litigation Strategies 2010." The event takes place July 22 at the Practicing Law Institute's New York Center. Ms. Thompson will speak as part of a panel entitled, "The Role of Insurers in Class Action Defense."
Ms. Thompson joined Allied World in 2003 and for five years managed all of Allied World's professional liability claims globally. She currently oversees all coverage litigation as well as all fiduciary claims for Allied World in the United States. Prior to joining Allied World, she was a Complex Claims Director at National Union, working in the Financial Institution and Directors and Officers units. While at National Union, she was selected to work several of National Union's most complex and difficult cases and was named Complex Claims Director of the year in December 2002. Additionally, Ms Thompson has extensive experience as a litigator. For four years she worked as a civil litigator with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and internationally. She also spent four years as a commercial litigator with Dewey & LeBoeuf (f.k.a. LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae). Ms. Thompson is a 1988 graduate of Wellesley College and a 1992 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. She has been a panel member at the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) Bermuda Perspective Symposium, the ABA Corporate Governance Conference, and has lectured at the Bermuda Insurance Institute.
