Allied World to Host Panel at Global Climate Change Workshop
ZUG, Switzerland, June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, AG (NYSE: AWH) announced today that Allied World will host a panel at the C40 Cities Climate Adaptation and Risk Assessment Workshop. The event will be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from June 3-6, 2013. The workshop will reconvene the Connecting Delta Cities network and will be the inaugural gathering of the new network of C40 cities focused on Climate Adaptation Risk Assessment.
The goal of the workshop is to increase understanding and knowledge among cities by encouraging them to share their experience of barriers and solutions to common challenges in climate adaptation and risk assessment. Allied World's panel will focus specifically on property insurance and modeling. The panel will be held on the morning of Thursday, June 6 and is entitled: "Property Insurance and Risk Modeling for Municipalities."
Scott Carmilani, President and Chief Executive Officer for Allied World commented, "We commenced our partnership with C40 Cities at the beginning of this year because, as a global insurance and reinsurance operation, we pay close attention to the potential impact that climate change may have on the world economy. More importantly, we believe that proper risk assessment and modeling along with preparation can greatly decrease the impact that catastrophic events can have on a city or municipality. As such, insurance and reinsurance companies can take a leadership role in helping governments mitigate the impact of climate change."
