HOUSTON, Nov. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- alliantgroup's Chairman of Agriculture and former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns was honored by the Nebraska Society of Washington, D.C. with its annual Distinguished Nebraskan Award.
A former Governor and U.S. Senator for the state of Nebraska, in his brief remarks after accepting the award, Johanns said that he felt blessed for the years he was given representing Nebraskans and for his time in public service. Past recipients of the award have included politicians, business leaders and entertainers who hail from the state. Last year the award was given to several Nebraska philanthropists.
After more than 30 years of public service, Johanns joined alliantgroup earlier this year to become the firm's first Chairman of Agriculture. He has since served as alliantgroup's main advisor in its outreach to agricultural companies on the various tax credits and incentives created for the benefit of their industry. In addition to helping build the firm's agricultural practice, Johanns has served as a vital resource to the firm's clients, CPA partners and industry alliances by providing valuable insight on the inner workings of Washington and updates on potential policy changes and their anticipated impact on American businesses.
"I would like to congratulate Secretary Johanns for receiving this distinguished award," said Dhaval Jadav, alliantgroup CEO. "Governor Mike Johanns has long been recognized as an excellent public servant and a true champion for rural America. I'm so happy to have him onboard at alliantgroup and I am looking forward to his contributions to the future of our firm."
