HOUSTON, May 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- alliantgroup, a leading tax consultancy and the nation's premier provider of government sponsored tax credits and incentives, is proud to announce the rollout of the firm's new STEM scholarship program. alliantgroup will be offering five $10,000 scholarships for the fall semester of 2017 to students interested in pursuing a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) related fields. The program, first announced by alliantgroup CEO Dhaval Jadav, falls in line with broader company initiatives with respect to supporting STEM-based industries.
"At our firm, we have devoted our lives to helping small and medium businesses claim the government incentives that they are fully entitled to," said Dhaval Jadav, who co-founded alliantgroup in 2002. "A large portion of our clients skew toward STEM related industries, and I cannot tell you how often I have heard these companies mention their struggles in finding the next generation of American-born STEM workers."
"For various reasons, it's been harder to find STEM workers here in the U.S., with kids pursuing other career fields. While our firm supports STEM-based businesses by providing them the extra dollars needed to attract the best technical employees, there is an undeniable shortage of U.S.-born STEM talent," said Dhaval Jadav. "By introducing this scholarship program today, it is my hope that we are at least doing a small part in improving the supply side of the equation by helping to get kids interested in math and science once more."
The five new scholarships are open to any high school senior or college student in Houston that is enrolled at a two-year to five-year institution for the 2017 academic year. The students must also maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. To apply, candidates simply need to create a short (30-120 second) video discussing how their passion for STEM has fueled their educational goals.
"STEM related sectors such as software and tech, automation and system integration are where the economy and the jobs of the future are headed," said Dhaval Jadav. "It is a personal passion of mine to make sure that those high-paying jobs stay here in the United States."
