MADISON, Wis., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas Aller, President of Alliant Energy's Iowa and Minnesota utility and Alliant Energy Corporation's Senior Vice President announced that he will retire this spring after more than 20 years with the company. The Board of Directors accepted his retirement and named Douglas Kopp Senior Vice President of Alliant Energy Corporation, effective March 1, and President of the Iowa and Minnesota utility operation effective on April 1.

In addition, the Board promoted James Gallegos, to Senior Vice President and he will remain General Counsel. Terry Kouba, currently Director of Generation Operations was also promoted to Vice President and will continue to oversee the Generation Operations organization.
Douglas Kopp's industry experience spans more than 30 years, including 20 with Alliant Energy, starting with predecessor Iowa Southern Utilities. Kopp has held diverse roles during his career, including economic development, customer service, regulatory pricing, generation and environmental affairs. Kopp has led the company's environmental efforts since 2011.
Gallegos joined Alliant Energy as Vice President and General Counsel in November 2010 after 25 years of experience as a trial attorney and Corporate General Counsel in the railroad and communications utility industries. Kouba joined Alliant Energy predecessor company Interstate Power in 1981 and has held numerous engineering and generation positions with the company during more than 30 years with the company. Gallegos and Kouba will begin their new roles effective immediately.
