AllianceBernstein Launches International Discovery Equity Portfolio
NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- AllianceBernstein L.P. today announced that it has launched the AllianceBernstein International Discovery Equity Portfolio, which invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of non-U.S. small- and mid-capitalization companies. The Fund is listed under the ticker symbol ADEAX.
Drawing on a global research platform that combines fundamental and quantitative analysis, the new Fund employs a "bottom-up" investment process that focuses on a company's prospective earnings growth, valuation and quality of management. The Fund does not target particular country or sector weightings in its stock selections.
With the investment objective of seeking long-term growth of capital, the Fund normally will hold the equity securities of approximately 150 - 200 small- and mid-capitalization companies outside of the U.S.
Liliana Dearth is leading the team managing the Fund. Ms. Dearth has 19 years of experience as an investment professional, with the past 11 years at AllianceBernstein.
Investors should consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fund/Portfolio carefully before investing. Fund Risks to Consider:
Market Risk: The market values of the portfolio's holdings rise and fall from day to day, so investments may lose value. Capitalization Risk: Small- and mid-cap stocks are often more volatile than large-cap stocks -- smaller companies generally face higher risks due to their limited product lines, markets and financial resources. Foreign (Non-US) Risk: Investing in non-US securities may be more volatile because of political, regulatory, market and economic uncertainties associated with such securities. These risks are magnified in securities of emerging or developing markets. Currency Risk: If a non-US security's trading currency weakens versus the US dollar, its value may be negatively affected when translated back into US dollar terms. Derivatives Risk: Investing in derivative instruments such as options, futures, forwards or swaps can be riskier than traditional investments, and may be more volatile, especially in a down market.
