Alliance Seating & Mobility Supports Community Efforts to Help Paralyzed North Carolina Resident
Division Partners with MSL Associates, LEVOUSA, Sunrise Medical to Help Fulfill Local Man's Wish
SALISBURY, N.C., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Salisbury resident Tim Elrod was severely injured in a vehicle accident approximately one year ago. After several months and multiple hospital stays, he returned home paralyzed from the waist down, confined to a manual wheelchair that was covered by his insurance company.
One of Elrod's greatest desires was to be able to stand again, especially when the time comes for him to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding. Elrod is well known and respected in his community, so they embarked on a campaign to raise the funds needed for the cash purchase of a power wheelchair with stand-up capabilities.
Michael Fisher, Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and Registered Rehabilitation Technology Supplier® (RRTS) works for Alliance Seating & Mobility and lives in the area. He heard about the community's efforts and offered to help find the right power wheelchair to meet Elrod's individual needs. Fisher learned that Elrod was already considering the LEVO® brand, so he contacted Walt Anderson, ATP for the local distributor of LEVOUSA, MSL Associates.
Fisher and Anderson collaborated and recommended a LEVO® Combi standing wheelchair combined with a Jay® J2 Deep Contour seat cushion from Sunrise Medical. The LEVO® Combi allows a person to be raised into a safe, comfortable, standing position to better integrate them into their daily activities.
To further aid the efforts of the community and family, Alliance Seating & Mobility, LEVOUSA, MSL Associates and Sunrise Medical agreed to provide additional gifts to the cause.
Today, Alliance Seating & Mobility, a division of The SCOOTER Store, delivered the complex rehab solution to Elrod at his home. Fisher and Anderson completed the delivery event. "This new stand-up power wheelchair will make a tremendous difference in my life. It will allow me to accomplish many things that I had been forced to give up like working in my workshop and preparing dinner in the kitchen. It's really going to help immensely," said Elrod. "I'm grateful to everyone who made this possible."
"Today's delivery was the culmination of months of effort by the family and community to help Tim Elrod. We are honored to participate and support their efforts to fulfill Mr. Elrod's wish." said Ricardo Flores-Clar, Executive Vice President of Alliance Seating & Mobility. "Our ATPs nurture professional and personal relationships in the communities where they work and live that help us serve people with a broad range of complex rehab needs. We work with medical professionals and over 100 different vendors to create customized solutions to address the medical conditions and unique individual requirements of each client. We are grateful to have the opportunity and privilege to help make dreams come true."
This was the first LEVO® Combi delivered by Alliance Seating & Mobility, and it positions the division to serve more disabled people who desire the many benefits of stand-up power wheelchairs.
