SAN DIEGO, April 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) announced today the recipients of nearly $1,000,000 in Mission Support Grants. AHF is committed to serving the most vulnerable populations in the San Diego area through funding projects and programs that address access to healthcare, with a focus on increasing the capacity and coordination of the healthcare delivery system. The programs selected to receive Mission Support Grants improve access to primary and specialty care, mental health and substance abuse services, and use innovative and collaborative methods to get real results.
The Mission Support Grants Program is an invitational program. Qualifying agencies must be operationally stable with strong leadership and have demonstrated their commitment to increasing the capacity of the healthcare delivery system for the poor and vulnerable populations of San Diego.
"Over the last year, Alliance Healthcare Foundation has focused on streamlining our processes and reducing our overhead costs by nearly 50 percent to get more funding to organizations and programs that are improving the lives of those in need," said Rob McCray, Chairman of the AHF Board. "We are committed to the principle that everyone should have access to appropriate, quality, and timely care. We seek to partner with organizations that further this goal."
You will have the opportunity to learn more about the grantees and their respective programs starting April 1 in the Alliance Healthcare Foundation Community Forum. Each organization will lead the community in a discussion regarding important topics in our community. The Community Forum is meant to drive ideas forward into action, creating solutions that promote the health and wellness of underserved and vulnerable populations in the San Diego region. The quality of the discussions in the forum will weigh heavily on the allocation of AHF Mission Support Grants in 2012.
