Allergy & Asthma Network Partners with American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and Not One More Life to Provide Free Allergy and Asthma Screenings
National patient education organization to host health event during Atlanta Hawks basketball game to give back to the Atlanta community and increase awareness of these life-threatening issues
ATLANTA, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Allergy & Asthma Network, the leading national nonprofit patient education organization dedicated to ending needless death and suffering due to asthma, allergies and related conditions, and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) will join together on November 8, 2014 at Phillips Arena to provide free allergy and asthma screenings to individuals as part of the ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting.
The screenings will be available on the concourse area during the Atlanta Hawks vs. New York Knicks basketball game and will include a symptom questionnaire, breathing tests (spirometry and FeNO) and consultations with board-certified allergists.
"This event is a chance for individuals to be tested for these life-changing medical conditions when they might not otherwise have the opportunity," said Tonya Winders, CEO of The Network. "Along with our great partners, we will be able to have a positive impact on the lives of children and their families in the community as a token of our appreciation to Atlanta for hosting the ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting."
"If asthma and allergy aren't diagnosed and treated early on, symptoms can make every day miserable for sufferers, and the effects of the conditions can sometimes be fatal," said Michael Foggs, MD, ACAAI president. "The screening program provides this information at no cost to participants, and we are happy to be joining The Network and Not One More Life to increase awareness surrounding these issues throughout the community."
In addition to the free screenings, The Network is also partnering with Not One More Life, a volunteer advocacy organization that provides asthma education to inner-city individuals. As a part of the partnership, The Network and ACAAI will provide 50 game tickets to inner-city Atlanta children and their families invited to the screenings by Not One More Life.
Be sure to visit the Phillips Arena to receive free allergy and asthma screenings provided by The Network and ACAAI on November 8, beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET. Discounted tickets are available at https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/hawks/EN/promotion/home; The Network receives $5 from the sale of each ticket to accomplish its mission.
