DUBLIN, Oct. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ActuallySheCanSM, the female empowerment campaign by Allergan, today unveiled a striking series of portraits shot by celebrated photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to announce the launch of #ActuallySheCan Mentorship, providing young women with inspirational advice.

Award-winning Inez and Vinoodh have created portraits of actress Chloë Grace Moretz, Olympic gold-medal gymnast Gabby Douglas, actress Gabourey Sidibe, supermodel and entrepreneur Iman, and television host and CEO Amanda de Cadenet, alongside their mentors or mentees – women who have meaningfully impacted their lives or whom they have supported in turn. The portraits include Amanda with her daughter Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor; Chloë Grace with her mother and manager Teri Moretz; Gabourey Sidibe with producer Lisa Cortes; Iman and fashion icon Bethann Hardison; and Gabby Douglas with her sister Arielle Hawkins. The resulting images – evocative, intimate and beautiful – poetically capture the power of female mentorship.
To bring their mentorship advice to the campaign's audience, ActuallySheCan is pleased to release a series of video interviews of these accomplished women in discussion with TV host Amanda de Cadenet. These intimate and candid conversations about personal challenges and perseverance will offer advice to inspire young women as they embark on their careers and find their unique paths to achieve their personal goals.
"I attribute so much of my growth, both personally and professionally, to strong guidance from my mentors. I couldn't be more pleased to honor that special relationship by joining forces with #ActuallySheCan Mentorship, helping young women realize the value of the counsel mentors can provide," said Gabby Douglas, who is pictured with her mentor in the campaign's photo shoot.
This October, ActuallySheCan joins forces with TEDWomen – an inspirational organizer of conferences dedicated to celebrating the power of women creators and change-makers – for the first #ActuallySheCan Mentorship Live event, providing young women the opportunity to engage with and seek advice from a reputable network of female leaders across a variety of fields today. The event, which is in partnership with TEDWomen but does not confer admission to the TEDWomen 2016 conference, will be hosted in San Francisco and will be free to attend with tickets available from Eventbrite.com.
"Each year, TEDWomen is an empowering forum where some of the world's most insightful and influential women are able to learn from each other. As an extension of this, we are excited to be partnering with #ActuallySheCan Mentorship, helping young women realize the power of mentorship and providing them access to a wealth of knowledge and experience," said Lisa Choi Owens, Head of Global Partnerships at TED.
#ActuallySheCan has amassed a national following with inspiring content and experiences that resonate with contemporary young women, creating meaningful, confidence-fueled experiences and content for its audience. Through the use of their official hashtag, #ActuallySheCan, the campaign has built an online platform for women to express their own goals, as well as perpetuate a larger conversation around female achievement and well-being.
