"We are delighted at the enthusiasm for the Seventh Avenue," said Paul Grangaard, Allen Edmonds President & CEO. "There has been a great anticipation and excitement around the release of the Seventh Avenue, so it only makes sense we extend this unique and special online offer to our customers."
The competition challenged students to reinterpret the classic American men's shoe with unique textures, on-trend colors and thoughtful attention to detail, while staying true to the Allen Edmonds origins of classic menswear. An expert panel of judges and over 120,000 online voters selected the Seventh Avenue, designed by Parsons student Patrick McCabe, to be produced and sold in the Allen Edmonds collection.
"Blue Jean" Denim Shoe Perfect for Summer!
Inspired by the classic American blue jean, McCabe's design combines the silhouette and detailing of Allen Edmonds' top-selling Park Avenue with American-made selvedge denim from Cone Denim Mills – the last remaining U.S.-based selvedge denim maker.
Honoring New York's Fashion Avenue and the home of the School of Fashion at Parsons The New School for Design, the Seventh Avenue features un-rinsed, indigo-dyed, selvedge denim that will develop a unique patina with wearing. Exposed selvedge highlights the traditional cap toe and the center back seam of the heel – for a fresh interpretation of classic American style.
With the extended offer, the Seventh Avenue will be available for purchase online through July 9. This fall, Allen Edmonds will be releasing the second of two winning designs from the Parsons competition as a limited offer - the Kings Point, by Parsons student-designer Melanie Berger. Inspired by World War II American soldiers who wore Allen Edmonds boots to both battle and R&R, the Kings Point combines that tradition with a modern aesthetic for an updated, sleek military boot.
