Allegheny County Councilman Joins PA Securities Commission
Vincent J. Gastgeb Takes Oath of Office in Harrisburg
PITTSBURGH, March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Vincent J. Gastgeb, a member of the Allegheny County Council since 2000, was sworn in Tuesday as the 42nd member of the Pennsylvania Securities Commission. Gastgeb, of Bethel Park, succeeds Tom Michlovic of Braddock, whose term expired.
Gastgeb, who served as a member of Gov. Tom Corbett's local government transition team, is a wholesale food executive with 27 years of experience. He is chairman of the County Council's Minority Caucus and has chaired several council committees including budget and finance, public safety, parks, government reform and executive rules. He also is the former chair of the Allegheny County Parks Committee and chairman of the joint City of Pittsburgh-Allegheny County Commission on Public Safety.
Gastgeb is a 1985 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science. He also holds a certificate in executive management from the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Business.
He is a member of the University of Pittsburgh's Alumni Club and also serves as a member of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee through the Institute of Politics.
Gastgeb is married to the former Barbara Krest and together they have four children and one grandchild.
