AllazoHealth and Accountable Care Coalition of Greater New York Receive 2014 Pilot Health Tech NYC Grant
NEW YORK, July 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AllazoHealth and the Accountable Care Coalition of Greater New York (ACCGNY) were awarded a grant of $91,914 by the 2014 Pilot Health Tech NYC to launch a pilot aimed at improving medication adherence. The pilot will target ACCGNY's Medicare-eligible beneficiaries, a highly comorbid population with intellectually and developmentally disabled (IDD) and elderly patients. The pilot will focus on improving medication adherence for patients with hypertension, epilepsy, heart failure, diabetes, and/or hyperlipidemia.
AllazoHealth is a predictive analytics firm that tackles the problem of medication non-adherence. Its AllazoEngine anticipates which patients are at risk of not taking their medications and predicts which medication adherence interventions will best influence individual patients' behavior. ACCGNY is a partnership between Collaborative Health Systems, the New York Integrated Network for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Queens County IPA, and 10 other health services providers. It is one of the nation's first Accountable Care Organizations to focus on adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The AllazoEngine will use ACCGNY's historical claims data to generate medication adherence predictions for each patient's medications and prioritize patients for different interventions. These results will guide clinical staff who deliver the interventions to each patient or caregiver via calls and face-to-face counseling.
The pilot will not only reduce total medical costs, but it will allow AllazoHealth to apply its AllazoEngine predictive analytics technology to IDD patients, a population often overlooked by medication adherence solutions. CEO of AllazoHealth Clifford Jones said, "We are excited to expand our product by partnering with ACCGNY and engaging caregivers on behalf of IDD patients. The pilot will demonstrate AllazoEngine's flexibility and the value of improved medication adherence."
Gabriel Luft, Executive Director of ACCGNY, said, "Our goal is to provide affordable, high quality care to our Medicare beneficiaries. Partnering with AllazoHealth will give us the tools to improve our population's medication adherence and reduce medical costs."
