DALLAS, Oct. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP announced today that the firm has taken its Health Care practice in Dallas to the next level with the addition of three new partners—Lisa Atlas Genecov, Cheryl Camin Murray and Kenya S. Woodruff.
"Lisa, Cheryl and Kenya are deeply talented attorneys who have all been recognized for their professional excellence. Their presence at Katten allows us to further tap into the emerging health care market in Dallas with partners whose high-calibre legal skills are well-known there," said Katten Chairman Roger P. Furey.
"For Katten, this move represents the continuing expansion of our presence in Dallas and greatly enhances our ability to offer a full range of top-tier services to our health care clients in Texas and across the country," he added.
Genecov concentrates her practice on the regulatory, business, corporate, governance, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional aspects of health care law. She counsels various health systems, medical groups and other health care providers in both regulatory matters as well as business transactions, including M&A matters in the private equity sector. Genecov leverages over 30 years of experience to counsel clients on transaction structures, implementation matters, compliance obligations and strategic alliances and opportunities under the Affordable Care Act and related health care laws and regulations. She also regularly advises the boards of health care entities on governance issues.
Murray advises providers, financial institutions and other businesses on entity formation, structural, contractual and health care regulatory issues. She guides clients on how to structure arrangements and transactions in compliance with the Anti-Kickback Statute, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act) and Stark Law, as well as how to comply with state and other federal health care laws and regulations. She regularly handles professional licensure and liability matters and physician alignment strategies in addition to training clients on state privacy and security matters.
Woodruff dedicates her practice to health care regulatory counsel and the design and execution of related merger, acquisition and joint venture strategic partnerships. She focuses on the creation and maintenance of compliant health care operations and structures for various provider types including physicians, hospitals, home health, hospice providers, accountable care organizations and clinically integrated networks. Her practice also includes advice on compliance with HIPAA, HITECH Act, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statutes and other applicable fraud and abuse laws.
"Lisa, Cheryl and Kenya are all recognized for being at the forefront of the health care bar in Texas and have national practices," said Laura Keidan Martin, national head of the firm's Health Care practice. "Together with their backgrounds in regulatory, complex transactions, private equity and non-profit work, they will strengthen Katten's national Health Care practice and complement the distinguished white collar and transactional health care services we offer our clients in North Texas and beyond."
Additionally, Katten's three new partners have earned numerous awards and distinctions including those for leading the industry as women lawyers. For example, Genecov was named one of the "Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Law" by the National Diversity Council in 2017; Murray has received numerous awards and distinctions based on her work with the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and the Texas Young Lawyers Association; and Woodruff was recently named as one of the "Dallas Top 50 Women Lawyers" by the Texas Diversity Council.
Genecov previously was Dallas head of Health Care Transactions and Chief Diversity Officer at Norton Rose Fulbright. Murray formerly was a partner at Winstead and chair of their Corporate, Securities and M&A Health Care Specialty group as well as the law student hiring attorney for the Dallas office. Woodruff was chair of the Health Care practice group at Haynes and Boone, where she also served as chair of the Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
"The health care industry continues to be a growing force for the economy and jobs nationally and in Dallas in particular," said Mark S. Solomon, Katten's Dallas managing partner. "We are thrilled that Lisa, Cheryl and Kenya selected Katten to bring their talents together under one dynamic, national health care practice."
This latest expansion follows Katten's recent substantial investment in Texas beginning with the opening of its Dallas office in February. The firm also has offices in Houston and Austin.
