ALL Reports 4Q09 and 2009 Results
CURITIBA, Brazil, March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --America Latina Logistica S.A. – ALL (Bovespa: ALLL11), Latin America's largest independent logistics company, announces its results for the fourth quarter and full year 2009 (4Q09 and 2009).
- ALL Brazil's volume increased 5.8% in 2009 to 35,631 million RTK, despite the very tough market scenario, with a significant drop in industrial production and a 12% reduction in agricultural grain crop in our coverage area. This shows once again the strong fundamentals of our business.
- Average yield decreased 4.3% in Brazil, from R$74.4 per thousand RTK in 2008 to R$71.2 per thousand RTK in 2009, mainly driven by the contractual diesel pass through of the 15% price reduction realized by Petrobras in June and by the weak freight prices in the spot market.
- ALL Brazil's EBITDA went down 8.6% in 2009 to R$1,101.0 million, driven by weak yields and a severe market retraction during the year, which pressured margins down.
- Perspectives for 2010 indicate a sharp market recovery, reverting the scenario which pressured our yields and margins in 2009. In Brazil, total soybean crop is expected to grow more than 18% in our coverage area according to the most recent CONAB estimates and industrial production is expected to increase about 8%. In Argentina agriculture crop should rise over 40%.
- Our long term expansion projects are going as planned. In December 2009, the Rumo Project became effective and the capex works start in 2010 aiming to reach volumes of 9 million tons of sugar in 4 years. Construction process in Rondonopolis is on schedule and should be concluded at 2012. New projects of c containers, terminals, iron ore volumes and logistics infrastructure are also under development.
