Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded allows high-performance, user authentication for rapid, secure access to clinical applications and critical patient information. Last Fall, IGEL delivered Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded in its ARM-based System-on-a-Chip thin client, but thanks to close collaboration with Imprivata and a willingness to listen to customer needs, IGEL has now integrated Imprivata into its x86 Linux thin client range, including its market leading UDC2 Software Thin Client. Thanks to these enhancements, Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded is now available as a standard feature in all IGEL Linux thin client solutions. Organizations using IGEL thin clients with Windows Embedded firmware can also easily deploy the OneSign ProveID software on each client using the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) to control the process.
Clinical users benefit from a ready-to-use solution, which ensures rapid, secure access to applications and information – regardless of location within the health care organization. Instead of having to enter passwords manually, users log on to virtual desktops and/or communicate through virtual channels to core medical applications using a contactless RF-enabled smart card. Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded improves work processes and ensures staff have more time to spend with patients.
Setting up Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded is a straightforward, intuitive process. After configuring the Imprivata Single Sign-On Appliance URL in the IGEL thin client (which can be accomplished through a Profile entry in the IGEL Universal Management Suite), the current production version of the OneSign ProveID Embedded client automatically downloads from the Imprivata Appliance – a process that is controlled by SSL key pairs. After download is complete, the ProveID Embedded client is persistently installed and configured under the control of the IGEL Linux thin client operating system.
After installation, the thin client boots to an Imprivata+Customer branded Active Directory login screen that allows only Imprivata OneSign users to access their desktop. Once authenticated, connections are established with Citrix XenDesktop or VMware Horizon View, depending on the particular environment. And whenever the IGEL device is switched on or rebooted, the system will automatically check for newer versions of the Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded client. If a new version is available, the client is automatically downloaded and installed, helping to minimize costs in deploying system updates.
