PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education is pleased to announce the return of Mutual Funds Today: Current Issues and Regulatory Developments in Investment Management, where for close to four decades, practitioners have attended for updates on mutual fund regulation and compliance issues. Set in Washington, DC, this program will provide up to 10.5 CLE credit hours, including 1 hour of ethics, and will be held Monday - Tuesday, October 5 - 6, 2015.
This course provides comprehensive materials, superior faculty, and an introductory lecture for those new to the area or those needing a refresher. It provides real opportunities to talk with the faculty and other attendees, including a celebratory luncheon marking the 75th anniversary of the enactment of the Investment Company Act of 1940. The luncheon keynote speaker is Martin Lybecker, a partner at Perkins Coie LLP and former Associate Director of the SEC's Division of Investment Management.
Mutual Funds Today will address the Department of Labor's proposed fiduciary standard rule, alternative funds and regulatory product developments with exchange-traded funds, and what the SEC is doing on omnibus accounts and sub-Transfer Agent arrangements. The all-star faculty includes three representatives from the SEC's Division of Investment Management, two VPs from FINRA, and general counsel from multiple banks and investment and financial firms.
"With a heightened focus on the issues most in flux in the industry, and faculty that will address these issues in a 360 degree manner, this is a program providing lots of value-added" said planning co-chair Thomas Harman, a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in Washington, DC.
This course will benefit attorneys, compliance professionals, anyone who counsels mutual funds or their advisers, distributors, or administrators, and others concerned with starting, registering, or operating mutual funds.
