Alfred Street Baptist Church Offers Free Health Screenings and Flu Shots
Health Services for the Uninsured - and the Insured
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With over 12% of residents of Alexandria and the surrounding area uninsured, Alfred Street Baptist Church is offering provide free health screenings, flu shots and Q&A with physicians this Saturday from 9 AM – 2 PM.
The 2012 Annual Community Health Fair will provide the community with hundreds of free health screenings and 16 health presentations followed by Q&A with physician specialists ranging from cancer to weight loss. Participants will also have a chance to win great raffle prizes including an iPad, Kindle, autographed footballs and more. A Wii exercise bus will be available for the children.
Health areas to be addressed through presentations and Q&A include prostate/breast/colon cancers, diabetes, OB/GYN, cardiovascular/stroke, dermatology, allergy, chiropractic and weight loss. Health screenings include blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, dental, HIV/AIDS, BMI, hearing, vision and flu shots. Interactive demonstrations include reflexology, self defense, yoga, dance, aerobic exercise, and chair massage. Over 15 doctors and 30 organizations will donate their time in support of Alfred Street's health and wellness mission.

The Community Health Fair occurs on the same day as a new visionary program launched by Pastor Wesley, Feed the 5,000 Project whereby thousands will be fed just as Jesus fed the multitudes with five loaves of bread and two fish. On September 29th, Alfred Street Baptist Church will touch thousands upon thousands in our community in support of better health.
