Alex Sciulli Named Highmark Executive Vice President and Chief Real Estate Development and Construction Officer
PITTSBURGH, March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Alex G. Sciulli, P.E. was recently named Highmark Inc.'s executive vice president and chief real estate development and construction officer.

Mr. Sciulli, who reports directly to Highmark President and CEO Kenneth R. Melani, M.D., is Highmark's senior executive in charge of overseeing the development, design and construction of the company's facilities. He is also responsible for site location and acquisition, building and land acquisition and disposition and leasing space.
In addition, Mr. Sciulli's responsibilities include the management of Highmark's engineering consulting and strategic planning activities, corporate real estate portfolio, business operations, budgeting and project management. He will design and execute an overall real estate portfolio management strategy and develop tactics for business and corporate stakeholders, aligning the needs of the divisions and subsidiary companies with each other and with the company's overall asset strategy.
Mr. Sciulli joins Highmark after almost three years as president and chief operating officer of RJ Lee Group of Monroeville, Pa., a scientific consulting company with four locations and 300 employees.
Previously, Mr. Sciulli was executive vice president and director of corporate real estate services for National City Corporation in Cleveland. He was responsible for the firm's owned and leased corporate real estate portfolio -- managing more than $1 billion in assets.
He also served as senior vice president and director of corporate operations and real estate at Mellon Financial Corporation in Pittsburgh for six years, where he managed $850 million in assets and was a member of the senior management committee.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Sciulli was a senior vice president at Camp Dresser & McKee, a civil and environmental engineering company, and served as director of the Department of Engineering and Construction for the city of Pittsburgh, where he was responsible for the city's infrastructure and facilities management.
He earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also earned his master's of science degree in civil engineering as well as a master's degree in business administration. He is a professional engineer (P.E.), registered in Pennsylvania and four other states.
He is past president of the Engineers' Society of Western Pennsylvania, and he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, Pennsylvania Economy League and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance Partnership.
