Forum to Highlight Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President and CEO James Bullard, Congressmen Lacy Clay and Russ Carnahan, and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley
WASHINGTON, May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) Housing Commission and Jack Kemp Foundation will jointly host a public forum on housing issues in St. Louis on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
The forum will feature former U.S. Senator Kit Bond (R-MO), a co-chair of BPC's Housing Commission, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President and CEO James Bullard, U.S. Representatives Lacy Clay and Russ Carnahan, and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley. Leading local, regional and national housing experts will also discuss the importance of innovative public-private partnerships in addressing housing challenges, as well as best practices for linking housing to comprehensive resident services, homebuyer education programs and rental housing preservation.
At the forum, BPC will release a new paper entitled, Housing Programs in the United States: Responding to Current and Future Challenges, which provides an overview of key challenges related to affordable housing and community development and the government programs meant to address these challenges. The paper will provide additional background for the Commission as they work to develop recommendations for meeting the housing needs of current and future low- and moderate-income families.
This event is the third regional forum hosted by BPC's Housing Commission. Launched in October 2011, the Commission aims to reform the nation's housing policy by crafting realistic and actionable policy recommendations that consider the near-term and long-term challenges in the housing sector. Throughout 2012, the Commission will visit different regions of the country to hear first-hand from stakeholders and interest groups about the housing challenges affecting its citizens.
