The award honors outstanding corporate citizenship, particularly in the areas of volunteerism and contributions of both time and resources to worthy organizations. The recognition follows Albemarle Corporation's recent selection as one of Corporate Responsibility Magazine's "100 Best Corporate Citizens" for 2010.

With more than 300 employees, Albemarle's Pasadena facility has been in operation for more than 50 years. During this time, the site has also established an equally impressive history of community service. Recent activities include:
- Assembling over 500 bikes to be given to needy children
- Supporting mentoring programs at local high schools
- Hosting annual science experiments/demonstrations at local schools
- Providing financial contributions to the community to support initiatives such as summer camps promoting science to young girls

Johnny Isbell, Pasadena's Mayor, presented Michael Brown, Plant Manager for Albemarle's Pasadena site, with the award.
