"We are pleased to become a member of the CIBO organization as this will provide us with an additional platform to collaborate with our valued customers in the boiler industry," said Sharon McGee, Albemarle's vice president of performance chemicals.
"Joining the CIBO organization will give Albemarle the forum to leverage our experience in mercury control to create viable solutions for the industrial boiler market. This is especially important due to the upcoming final rule from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the Industrial Boiler MACT in December 2010," McGee continued.
"We welcome Albemarle to the CIBO membership. With the increased level of environmental activity, Albemarle's participation will be a significant benefit for all," stated Robert Bessette, president of CIBO.
Albemarle's sorbent technologies group, part of Albemarle's fine chemicals division, is a full service mercury solutions provider. The group pioneered Brominated Powdered Activated Carbons (PAC) and has the broadest selection of mercury sorbents to meet the unique needs of each utility or boiler. Albemarle has a portfolio of mercury sorbents and bromine derivatives for boiler and duct injection and provides activated carbon injection systems for large and small utility and industrial boilers, as well as a mobile demonstration unit for full-scale testing.
