Alan Cumming To Be Honored At Live Out Loud's Eleventh Annual Young Trailblazers Gala On April 30th
Supporters nationwide are invited to check in to the event on FourSquare
NEW YORK, April 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Alan Cumming, Emmy-nominated star of The Good Wife on CBS, will be honored at Live Out Loud's Eleventh Annual Young Trailblazers Benefit Gala this year. Cumming will be presented with the Star Award, given to individuals who have helped Live Out Loud empower LGBT youth. Cumming has used his prominence as a multitalented actor to benefit numerous LGBT and AIDS-related causes, hosted Live Out Loud's 9th Annual Gala in 2010 and appeared in a Live Out Loud public service announcement produced by Showtime. The event will take place on Monday, April 30th at The TimesCenter in New York City and will be hosted by B.D. Wong, star of the new NBC series Awake.
"What we lack in the LGBT world is positive role models," said Alan Cumming. "Now, more than ever, if you're out and proud and strong, it's important to let our young brothers and sisters know that life is good and we are happy to be who we are. It's important to speak out and get your message to the kids who need it most. It's for all our good."
A highlight of this year's gala will be the awarding of $5,000 scholarships to five high school seniors in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills within their communities. Live Out Loud will also honor leaders who have supported the organization over the years and served as role models for LGBT youth. Other honorees include Deutsch / A Lowe & Partners Company, which will receive the inaugural Corporate Leadership Award, and Bruce T. Sloane, who will receive the Founders Award.
Sponsors of the Eleventh Annual Young Trailblazers Gala include Deutsch / A Lowe & Partners Company, InStyle Magazine, TJ Maxx & Marshalls, Calvin Klein, Inc., Kenneth Cole Productions, Giorgio Armani Corporation, J. Crew, Tory Burch LLC, Draftfcb, Donny Deutsch, Lizzie & Jonathan Tisch, Daryl Roth, and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company.
