Al Wadi Al Akhdar: Member of the Mediterranean Foods Alliance
BEIRUT, July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Lebanese brand Al Wadi Al Akhdar is a member of the Mediterranean Foods Alliance, which was founded by US-based organization Oldways. The alliance's mission is to generate awareness of the Mediterranean diet (which has been hailed as one of the healthiest in the world) through its e-newsletter as well as traditional and social media. As a leading Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food brand, Al Wadi Al Akhdar was a worthy addition to the alliance, which also includes well known brands such as Barilla and Pompeian.
Many of Al Wadi Al Akhdar's goods, which are sold internationally, have received the Med Mark certificate. Established by the MFA in June 2007, this certificate designates healthy Mediterranean food products. Some of Al Wadi Al Akhdar's Med Mark goods include its Hummus, Baba Ghannouj, Tahini, Olive Oil, Pomegranate Molasses, Foul and Chickpeas.
In 2013, the Lebanese brand started publishing a couple of its recipes in the MFA's Fresh Fridays e-newsletter. The biweekly newsletter provides consumers, registered dieticians, health professionals and the media with tips and recipes of Mediterranean foods. Al Wadi has contributed its Loubieh Bi Zeit (Green Beans in Oil) and Swiss Chard Stems with Tahini recipes to the March edition, as well as its Sfouf Bi Dibs (Carob Molasses Cake) recipe to the July edition. It will continue to be involved in the near future, as more recipes are planned for the Fresh Fridays editions of December.
