Akron-Canton Airport Celebrates Busiest October Ever, Beats 2011 Record
GREEN, Ohio, Nov. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Give thanks? You bet! We are thankful for our 19th consecutive record breaking month at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). October passenger traffic surged eight percent ahead of October 2011; beating our previous busiest October by 11,566 passengers. For the month, nearly 160,000 Customers flew in/out of CAK, the fourth best month on record. Year-to-date passenger traffic is up 11 percent compared to the first ten months of 2011.

Passenger traffic was up on all airlines serving the airport. Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways (now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines) were up two percent compared to last year. Delta, flying to Atlanta and Detroit increased by 20 percent. Both US Airways, with flights to Charlotte, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. (Reagan) and Frontier Airlines flying nonstop to Denver were up nine percent. United Express with flights to Chicago O'Hare increased by six percent.
