AK Steel's Coshocton and Zanesville Plants Recognized for Outstanding Safety Performances
WEST CHESTER, Ohio, May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) said today that two of its Ohio plants have received awards from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, division of Safety and Hygiene for their outstanding safety performances in 2009.
The company's Coshocton Works earned three awards, including: the Group Safety Award for having the lowest incident rate in the Coshocton County Safety Council's industrial group for 2009; the 100% Award for operating the entire year of 2009 without a lost-time injury; and, a Special Award for working 1,538,615 hours without a lost-time injury, from February 20, 2008 through December 31, 2009.
And, AK Steel's Zanesville Works garnered two awards. They are: the 100% Award for operating without a lost-time injury during 2009; and, a Special Award for working 3,129,977 hours without a lost-time injury, from April 21, 2003 through December 31, 2009.

The Coshocton and Zanesville awards were presented at recent meetings of local chambers of commerce and safety councils.
