AK Steel Supports Emergency Relief Efforts In Haiti
WEST CHESTER, Ohio, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Through its foundation, AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) has donated $100,000 to help support emergency relief efforts in Haiti following the tragic earthquake that took place earlier this month. The company's donation was equally split between Doctors Without Borders and the American Red Cross.
"We share the concern of countless others for the safety and well-being of everyone in Haiti," said James L. Wainscott, AK Steel chairman, president and CEO. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families affected by this disaster."
In addition, the company is encouraging employees to take advantage of the AK Steel Matching Gift Program if they choose to personally support the relief efforts in Haiti. When employees make a donation to an eligible nonprofit, the AK Steel Foundation will match the gift in accordance with the program's guidelines.
