AK Steel Coke Plants Recognized For Outstanding Safety Performance

WEST CHESTER, Ohio, March 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AK Steel Corporation's (NYSE: AKS) Ashland, Kentucky and Middletown, Ohio coke plants have received the Max Eward Safety Award from the American Coke and Coal Chemicals Institute (ACCCI), a leading industry trade organization.  The awards recognize the company for operating two of the safest cokemaking facilities in America during 2010.  Both AK Steel coke plants, along with one other ACCCI member coke facility, operated the entire year of 2010 without any OSHA recordable injuries.

The ACCCI recognition marks the 13th time in the past 14 years that an AK Steel coke plant has received the Max Eward Safety Award.
