AJC Welcomes State Department's Removal of Eilat Travel Warning
NEW YORK, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AJC welcomed the U.S. State Department's decision to remove Eilat from its online advisory on travel to Israel.
Earlier this week, AJC called on the State Department to retract its warning on Eilat, after terrorists fired missiles from Egyptian-controlled Sinai that killed a Jordanian in Aqaba, bordering Eilat.
"The inexplicable warning on Eilat posted on the State Department website was misplaced and hurtful to our ally, Israel, and to the city of Eilat, a popular tourist destination," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "We are pleased that the State Department has removed any reference to Eilat in its travel advisory on Israel."
