AJC Urges Poland to Apprehend Attackers of Israelis
WARSAW, Poland, Aug. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AJC is urging the Polish government to use all available resources to apprehend and bring to justice the individuals responsible for violently attacking members of an Israeli soccer team. Two Israelis with Hapoel Petach Tikvah were injured in the assault by a group wearing masks, following a match against MKS Ciechanow in Sochocin.
"The Polish government must be unambiguously clear that there is zero tolerance for any anti-Semitic act, especially a violent hate crime," said Agnieszka Markiewicz, acting director of AJC Central Europe. "The match between Israeli and Polish teams reflects the generally healthy and strong relations between Poland and Israel. Expeditious action by the Polish authorities is imperative."
