AJC Strongly Condemns Gratuitous Calls for Weekend Protests at Mosques
NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AJC rejects hateful rhetoric that threatens the safety of American Muslims to freely exercise their religion without harassment. Calls to protest outside of mosques and Islamic centers this weekend are aimed at instilling hatred towards American Muslims and spreading fear of Islam.
The protests are organized by Global Rally for Humanity, according to Religion News Service.
"When a small group of haters targets any religious group, it besmirches all Americans and the sacred values that we hold most dear," said Rabbi Noam Marans, AJC Director of Interreligious and Intergroup Relations. "We have heard the distress of our Muslim neighbors at this call for targeted protest outside mosques, and we cannot remain silent."
