AJC Executive Director David Harris issued the following statement:
"The people of the Boston area, including AJC Boston members and staff, and joined by Americans across the country, have come together this week in unison. In doing so, they have once again demonstrated that we will not be intimidated by terrorists, reportedly inspired by religious extremism and intent on wreaking havoc and mindless murder.
"Our hearts go out to the families of the three victims -- Martin Richard, Krystle Campbell, and Lu Lingzi -- who perished in the Marathon bombings on Monday, as well as Sean Collier, the MIT campus officer shot dead early Friday morning. We pray for the recovery of the more than 170 injured, fully recognizing that for some their lives will never be the same.
"We trust that the capture of one suspect, and the continuing investigation, will shed light on whether the Tsarnaev brothers acted alone or had any kind of assistance in training, selecting targets, funding or additional support from others.
"Finally, we wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Boston Police, Massachusetts State Police, FBI and other law enforcement agencies for their coordinated and relentless response to this latest terror attack on U.S. soil. We are reminded again that in a world in which the U.S. and American targets worldwide have been targets for terrorists, we must remain as vigilant, determined and united as possible."
