AJC Praises House Resolution on Palestinian Incitement
NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AJC praised the U.S. House of Representatives for adopting unanimously a resolution condemning Palestinian Authority anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement to violence.
The resolution, H.Res.293, asserts that the recent wave of violence in Israel and the West Bank is "inflamed by statements made by Palestinian President Abbas, other Palestinian officials, clerics, and official Palestinian Authority media, and frequently amplified on social media platforms."
H.Res.293, strongly supported by AJC, was introduced by Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Ted Deutch (D-FL), chair and ranking member, respectively, of the House Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa.
"The U.S. House of Representatives has spoken with clarity on who is responsible for encouraging Palestinian attacks on Israelis," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "If PA President Abbas truly desires peace with Israel, he needs to take decisive steps to condemn the violence and end the incitement."
