NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AJC urged the Obama Administration to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, following the release today of the State Department's long-awaited environmental impact statement. The report concluded that the pipeline will have little impact on global climate change.

"AJC has long advocated for the Keystone XL pipeline because it is critically important for U.S. energy security, not to mention our economy," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "The pipeline will contribute significantly to further reducing our reliance on oil from unreliable sources, create new jobs, and deepen still further our relations with our cherished neighbor and ally, Canada."
Canada is the United States' largest trading partner, and already provides oil through other pipelines. Transporting oil via pipelines is safer, more energy efficient, and more reliable than importing it through tankers from the Middle East or elsewhere.
