KIEV, Ukraine, April 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AJC condemned the firebombing attack on a synagogue in the Ukrainian city of Nikolayev. The attack comes days after a virulent anti-Semitic leaflet, whose origin remains in question, was distributed in Donetsk.
Both anti-Semitic incidents were condemned by Ukraine's Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who vowed to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators.
"The quick condemnation by the Ukrainian government to these intolerable attacks is laudable," said AJC Executive Director David Harris, who participated in meetings today with Jewish community leaders in Kiev and will see Yatsenyuk on Monday.
Harris is leading a five-member AJC delegation on a visit to Kiev, the second AJC fact-finding and solidarity visit to the Ukrainian capital in the past two months.
