AJC Condemns Terrorist Murder of Four Israelis

NEW YORK, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AJC condemned the killing of four Israelis by terrorists today. The victims, one of whom was pregnant, were executed in their car at point blank ranged near Kiryat Arba in the West Bank.

"We mourn those Israelis who were murdered in this brutal terrorist attack," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "Tragically, this attack coincides with the start of direct talks in Washington between Israel and the Palestinian Authority."

"It may well be that the timing was not accidental," said Harris. "The terrorists could be seeking to derail the talks before they even begin. It is critical that Palestinian Authority President Abbas condemn this heinous attack clearly and quickly. Equally, the PA must leave no stone unturned in bringing those responsible to justice and taking measures to prevent any future attacks."

The direct talks, scheduled to begin tomorrow at a dinner hosted by President Obama, follow months of proximity talks brokered by U.S. mediators.
